The Norfolk Terrier Club board has approved the publishing of a Norfolk Terrier Club Annual. This will be Annual number 6. The last annual the club published was in 2013. Those of you that are not familiar with the Norfolk Terrier Club Annual it is a publication that documents the history of the Norfolk Terrier Club, its members and their dogs. This publication memorializes the dogs that have been influential to our breed and our breeding programs as well as their breeders and owners. This year’s annual will follow the format used in the past annuals. It will begin with history and will close with the Norfolk terrier statistics for the last 7 years and a listing of our clubs trophies. It is expected to be one of the finest ones we’ve ever published and will be a wonderful resource for club members to have.
Seven years is a long time in the life of a National Breed Club. We have a great group of people working on this year’s annual. You will be able to submit advertisements to the annual, it is the advertisements that breeders and owners place in the annual that help cover the cost of producing the annual. I hope you all take advantage of this and submit an ad in support of the club and this publication. Ads can be a celebration of wins or good luck wishes to the club or a tribute to a member that is no longer with us (we have lost many influential members over the last 6 years.) Ads can be sponsored by individuals or by groups of people. The advertisement form can be completed and mailed to Susan Burrell; she will be our advertising chair for the Annual. If you need help designing an ad we have people that can help with that as well.
Barbara Miller is the committee chair for the Annual. Barbara was responsible for producing the first five annuals for our club. I am thrilled she has offered her time and expertise to the club again. Barbara is accepting ideas and articles for publication in the Annual. The plans for our National Specialty weekend (October 5-10, 2021) are well underway. The national is being held at the Montgomery County Kennel Club show in Macungie Pennsylvania on Sunday October 10th. We have a new hotel for this year. We will be staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Washington Pennsylvania. This hotel is just a couple of doors down from the Holiday Inn that we have stayed in the past. The Norwich Terrier Club will also be using this hotel as their Host Hotel so be sure to book your rooms early and be sure to mention that the rooms are under The Norfolk Terrier Club. The Norfolk Terrier Club is hosting two days of Fast Cat during the Montgomery weekend (October 5 and 6, 202). If you are unfamiliar with Fast Cat please visit our website or the AKC website to familiarize yourself with this event. Fast Cat is something that Norfolk Terriers love to do and requires little to no training. We would love to see you support our club and participate in this activity. We will be having our bi-monthly Zoom member education on Tuesday May 11th at 8:00 pm (eastern). Judi Hartell will be presenting a “Groom Zoom”. We have had a tremendous response to this event and to the previous zoom events, please be sure to join us. A zoom link will be sent to members a few days before the event. Our club is very lucky to have talented members that are willing to share their expertise in all areas of owning Norfolk Terriers. We are still looking to fill the rest of our schedule if you have an idea for a Member Zoom please contact me at email@example.com.
If you are looking to help out the club, we still have positions in the club open for members to help out in. The club is currently seeking a Hospitality chair and a Notions chair. These two committees are very active during our specialty weekend and are essential to the success of our specialty weekend. I appreciate all the club members that have helped out in these areas over the past years and look forward to helping new people be successful on these committees.
