ANTA Norfolk Terrier Fun Weekend Jamboree and Farm Dog Certification
September 10, 2022 @ 8:00 am - September 11, 2022 @ 5:00 pm
The Norfolk Terrier Club (NTC) is hosting one day and two Farm Dog
Certification Tests on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2022 in Mt. Laurel, NJ. This will be part of
the two-day Norfolk Terrier Fun Weekend Jamboree held in conjunction with the American
Norfolk Terrier Association (ANTA).
Come and play with fellow Norfolk Terrier enthusiasts. We have a full weekend of fun
activities, starting with the Saturday’s Farm Dog Certification Test. Our judges are Club
member Lini Federici and our host, Anne Rosenberg (whose property we will be using).
The rules are easy….the test involves your dog performing a series of 12 exercises that are
typical for a farm environment such as being in close proximity to livestock (who are always
penned to avoid any altercations); jumping and staying on hay/straw bales; walking on unusual
terrain; and jumping over logs. There is no herding involved. Instead, the goal is to assess your
Norfolk’s aptitude as a working farm dog by exhibiting self-control, confidence and trust with
you, the handler. The specific rules and activities, including a video, are spelled out in detail on
the AKC website at AKC Farm Dog Certification.
Our Test is open to all breeds and mixed-breed dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Companion
program, but Norfolk Terriers will have a one week head start for entering. Entries will be
open for Norfolk Terriers on August 1 and for all others on August 8. We are limited to 25 dogs
for each test, so get your entries in early! In order to get your title, you will need to pass the
two tests, which we will have running concurrently. For additional information you can
contact the Trial Chair, Beth Kravetz at clubs@bethlaw.com for a copy. All titling dogs will get a
lovely rosette from NTC (and a certificate from the AKC), and Norfolk Terriers will get a special
prize donated by ANTA.
Other events scheduled for the weekend include a conformation match, introductions to
agility, earthdog, barnhunt and lure coursing, and a health clinic with heart (echocardiogram),
patellas and eye testing on Sunday, September 11. Widely known and acclaimed “Sally Sports
Vet” Chris Zink (DVM) will be giving a Zoom presentation on identifying early injuries during
lunch on Sunday. Details about the full weekend events are available on the ANTA
website ANTA Fall Events
Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 10, 2022 (Farm Dog Certification) and Sunday
